Nearly 80 years on the Palm Beach waterfront
What is now Hemingway's Boatyard began its life in 1946 as The Ways Boatyard — a simple, hardworking operation that offered Palm Beach County boaters a reliable place to haul, store, and work on their vessels. The name was literal: "the ways" referred to the launching rails that slid boats in and out of the water.
Over the decades, The Ways became a fixture of the local boating community. Captains trusted it. Families brought their boats here year after year. The yard earned a reputation not through advertising, but through honest work and word of mouth.
Now operating as Hemingway's Boatyard, that same spirit lives on. We've added modern equipment and services, but the fundamentals haven't changed: we treat every boat with the care it deserves, and every customer with the respect they've earned.
Founded on the Intracoastal waterfront in Palm Beach Gardens, The Ways Boatyard begins serving local boaters with haul-out and basic storage services.
The yard expands its services to include full-service bottom painting, blocking, and longer-term storage. A loyal base of Palm Beach County captains makes it their permanent home port on the hard.
Investment in modern lifting equipment allows the yard to safely handle vessels up to 85 feet — keeping pace with the larger, heavier boats coming into the fleet.
Carrying on nearly 80 years of tradition, Hemingway's Boatyard continues to be the captain's boatyard of choice in Palm Beach Gardens — transparent pricing, skilled crew, and the same dedication to every vessel that made this yard legendary.
